Sunrise of Day 6 and we are barely over 48 hours into construction. Today we will see the completion of "construction" and a shift toward "detail work".
Here [below] volunteers are working in master bedroom cleaning things up so that the painters can takeover. The upstairs is running about 8 hours behind the downstairs, so while the painters get through spraying the downstairs rooms everyone upstairs is working to prep for the painters.
Below is one of the painters while he takes a breather (literally).
As things progress on the inside, volunteers are getting the yard ready for the sod trucks to roll in...
...and just like the rest of the project, if you blink you'll miss something major. Just an hour or so later and the front yard is almost sodded.
From this point on the devil is in the details. Here one of the volunteers is trimming some of the trim work so that it will fit around the stonework on the front porch.
More prep upstairs for to make ready for the painters.
Below is Ann Maree, a volunteer who helped paint the girl's room with four shades (that's right, four) of pink.
But the end of the day, the grass and most of the landscaping has already gone in, and on the inside of the house folks are working on trim and detail work.
Imagine what it's got to be like to paint in dark rooms like these with harsh 500 watt direct drop-lights.
Through it all, there has been a whole slew of folks who have works behind the scenes to keep the food and drinks flowing so that everyone has plenty to eat and drink. Every day we went through several pallets of Monster energy drinks, sodas and water.
And again, just because the sun goes down and the rest of Charlotte heads off to bed, another shift comes in and work keeps right on going without missing a beat. Have I mentioned that the neighbors have been GREAT? Most folks don't know it, but if you live next to one of these projects your nights or filled with lights and the sounds of a construction site all through the night. Even with all of the disruptions, I never heard one of the neighbors say anything except how wonderful this whole thing has been.
