Day 2 (which is not the same thing as the TV Day 2) consist of little more than prepping the house for demolition. Now, when I say "little more" don't get me wrong, there is plenty of work to be done, just not much photographically interesting. The crew works their little fannies off getting all the family's belongings out of the house and sorting out what they want to keep and then donating most of the rest to charities. They also "disconnect the house from the grid". In other words they disconnect the power lines that run to the house, as well as the sewer connections. Here workers are repairing the road and sidewalk where they had to remove the sewer lines.
They also remove the fixtures, windows and most of the doors as shown below. All materials that are salvageable (not broken during removal) are donated...
Even though "Prep Day" isn't what you'd call a "big day", they still take care of the workers very well. Fatz Cafe' (regional restaurant chain) provided dinner for the workers.
Just before left the jobsite, I turned the tables on the security guards and asked them for their ID before they could give me a hard time about not having a "pass/badge" on me. While these guys do have a tough and actually quite a serious job at times, they do have a since of humor.
As before, if you want to see more photos (not too many more this time) click here.
