It's mind-boggling to think that just 24 hours before the photo below the volunteers were only beginning to place the floor joists, and now were have a house. The framing is done, and the primary systems like electric, plumbing and air conditioning duct work are all going into place. As a matter of fact, some of the systems like electric and plumbing are already mostly done.
In the photo above the roof decking is going into place. And below, the drywall installers are already hanging sheetrock.
This photo was taken in the family's new daycare area, where the workers have completed hanging the drywall and have already "tape and bedded" the entire room. Of course, it helps to have an army of people to get the job done.
Below the eldest brother of Curtis King (the Dad of the family) takes a photo of the progress of the project.
Below, another room just about ready to dry and wait on the painters to come in later tonight.
And here (below) hot air is being blown into the house to help dry the "mud" quickly, and so the painters can get to work in just a few hours. And you heard that right, they were blowing hot [dry] air in... even though it was already nearly 100 degrees in the house. To say that it was like an oven is an understatment.
While work was steadily going on inside the house, workers on the roof were finishing up the installation of the asphalt roofing system. Also being installed on the roof was a brand new, state of the art thermal solar system.
Everyone is doing whatever it takes to get the house done in time to bring the family home. Here is Rick Marlini operating a skid steer loader. Rick is most definately a hands on kind of guy.
Even with all of the work going on, and the unusually high temperatures (for Charlotte) and sweltering humidity... it is amazing how high everyone's spirits have been. Trust me (I've worked in the construction industry for the past 20 years) not only is it unusual for there not to be tempers flaring, but it's even more unusual for everyone to get along... to help each other even.
Here a roofer is installing shingles over the side entrance for the daycare.
And again, as night sets in the lights come up and the workers keep right on plugging along. Everyone works in shifts so the work keeps going 24/7, until the house is done.
